Red colour

A very popular natural paint in Sweden called Falu Red Colour was developed in the 19th century and is still commonly used. It was to preserve the wood from aging and protecting it from absorbing humidity. It is made from Water, Rye flour, Linseed oil and Copper from leftover material at the copper mines. It is the copper giving this wonderful colour.

The oldest houses found is from the 15th century, but it become fashionable much later when the population could afford it. Otherwise the wood houses was untreated. So I guess we can call it an IKEA lifestyle of the 19th century. Lots of style without cash...

This is what the production... looks like. Just kidding. It's source is calculated to last only until the 2090 and there is no export of this paint.

Just some Swedish culture...
