Next Interior Trend

Formex , an Interior, Decor, Design fair in Stockholm happened in Early September.
I loved the Trend Information and the display this year and I do most of my buying for the store at this fair.

Natural wood ...in a new way !
We Scandinavians are so in love with natural materials.

A great mix of old and new, warm and cosy for the home.

I thought this was a beautiful combination.

Sharp and smart ! Black , White and Red.

I found some new items for Un Momento Nordico , arriving every week.

Special every day !

This is my decoration for this winter in my entrance window. It is normally a No No to dried flowers in our house, but these decorative Chinese Lanterns will do wonders in the dark.
The flowerpot is an old Salt Glazed Stonewear Canister
This kind of container was used in all Scandinavian homes in the mid 1900 for storing food, such as herring, butter or anything you could keep for a length of time in the cold pantry. I remember them from my granny's house in many sizes. I think they are to be found only at flea markets these days.
I love to use the most basic vases or pots and make a personal decoration. This earth brown shade sits well with the bright orange.

The photo is taken by my friend Elisabeth Ardouin.

A beautiful photo a day ....should keep the Psychiatrist away.....

Girls in the forest !

As I told you in my last post, I went north this week...to Stockholm.
It was kind of travel to another season and another century. My friends live in an old summer school from the 19th century, all in red Falu painted wood, right by the sea, north of Stockholm. It is all so charming and very different from my old stone house in the northern Italy.

This is an excellent mushroom season and my friend is a pro. It is the very first time I am out in the forest looking for mushrooms and it was a fantastic experience. I am now hooked and would love to try it again.
Mainly because it looks so fabulous , dried in a glass jar in the pantry.

It was really difficult to catch the small glossy little things in the mix of colorful wet leaves.

Nice !!

At least it is a good start. You might not be impressed , but I returned home with a heavy basket. I placed them on a baking tray and turned the oven on 50° and let them dry slowly.  It is delicious to add in a stew or just fry them in a salty butter.

Cantharellus tubaeformis or Yellowfooth.

It's all about looking good...

This is not me....    ,but it could be.

A black shift and 4 handsome dogs.

When the chestnuts are falling, you know for sure that Autumn has arrived. This season is really my favorite. Just love, still sunny wonderful days and fresh crisp mornings.  If you love sunsets, this is the time to enjoy them the most.

And when this time comes around its time to get thinking about the wardrobe.
New and old.
Old needs to be freshend up and scrutinized. New need to melt in , but yet add modernity.it is both wonderful and stressful to go through this moment. I am packing for a week in Stockholm, leaving 28° sun behind and moving towards 5°.
All i wish for is a chic black shift dress, smart heels or a fine 140's wool slacks in a medium grey, with the perfect cardigan ( always hard to come by ). Sneakers will still do.
The tweeds have to wait  for a month or so.
I am longing to introduce some lace in off-white, thinking of what the runways offred. Lace and a new feminine look. I think Louis Vuitton was fantastic.Books and movies are also important to plan for and start piling them up, to prepare for the darker season, when it's lovely to snug up in a comfortable,
soft corner.  As of now I am eagerly waiting for every episode of Boardwalk Empire.
It is getting better and better.....

Hmmm,

I am back again

I need to start with apologizing for being on " holiday " for so long. One day in June it just said stop. Actually I looked and some fantastic images from Martha Stewart of Smoothies and said to myself...I do not have good enough photos to show on the blog and what am I going to tell......

I am almost always inspired and manage to create good energy. And manage to create a project each and every day. Perhaps we can blame the heath this summer. It was no way to be in my office all summer with the sun heating my roof to an unbearable sauna. My internet did not reach the garden. Who knows why ? I could care less... Too busy enjoying the life as an "Amateur Gardener"
This summer has been the summer of " Pesto " with a forest of fantastic Basel leaves.
I will tell More about pesto tomorrow.

I will also come back with a summery of the summers happenings, seaside, Paris and Stockholm. Perhaps some information can be useful for the next Summer to come.

I am also stunned by how many messages I have been receiving from my regular readers asking me to return to my normal blogging.
Thanks to all of You who missed me.

PS. The photo above is taken by Denis Grunstein. I love her fresh and elegant photos. Click on her name and a world of her photos will bring You into her garden.

Lots of Love,
Gunn
